Even though we were not busy with hosting mission teams during the month of April, the work continued at the new property.  Please visit the Photo Gallery to view more photos. Our website has a new look so please browse all the pages. Don’t forget to sign the Guestbook.

As the construction on the roof of the dining hall began, we quickly found out that there was a lot more to getting a Bay leaf roof that we ever imagined. John and the guys made two trips to the far Southern end of Belize to pick up the leaf that had already been cut and bundled. The bundles contain 25— 40 leaf and can weigh around 100lbs…. I was only able to help with a couple of the very small bundles of dry leaf.

Ustaquio Pop, Jose, Alfonso, Alfredo and Cecerio from Silver Creek constructed the Bay leaf roof.

It is the Dry Season here in Belize and Bush fires are a real problem. As you can see we had a very close call with a fire on the property. This fire started just shortly after the guys had completed the work on the roof.

Brother Taca from Santa Rosa finishes up the block and window headers on the Caretaker’s house. We are hoping to have both buildings completed to the point that they are ready for the roof by the end of May.

Joe Arms and Tim Ellis from Houston, Texas conducted a Pastor and Wife Conference in Corazol.  This is the Second Annual Pastor and Wife Conference. We really enjoyed the training sessions and the fellowship with other Pastors and their wives.

Prayer Requests

¨ My (Darlene) mother has been battling cancer on and off for 6 years. It has now moved to her brain. I am now in Alabama and will spend Mother’s Day with her.  Please continue to lift her and my family up in prayer.

¨ Continue to pray for the development process of the Rodney M. Gordon Christian Development Center. There is still much fund raising that needs to be done to complete the project.

¨ Pray for the Women’s Center ministry. We hope to begin converting the camp within the next couple of months.

¨ Continue to pray for our Pastors and church leaders here in the South. The laptops have been a blessing to several of them. There are still some that could use laptops.

¨ A few of the local churches have expressed a need for things such as PowerPoint projectors and MP3 players to enhance their worship services. Help us pray about this need… we have asked the churches to begin doing their own fund raising for these things and that we would try to find these items at reduced prices for them. If anyone has these things and would want to donate them, please contact us.

¨ Continue to pray for Jeff and Tiffany Boyles as they make arrangements to move back to Alabama. They will continue to be a support for the ministries here in Belize… especially with the Feeding Program.

¨ Pray for us (John and Darlene) as we adjust to new responsibilities. We will also be giving up our teaching positions at the High School at the end of this school year in order to devote more time to other areas of ministry.
