The Camp is a wonderful place to stay while your team ministers to the people in this region. The price is very reasonable and we are centrally located within the Stann Creek District. The Camp is located in the middle of a Mayan Indian Village so you get an opportunity to interact with the people in their home environment. Also, we (John & Darlene) live on the property so we are available to assist you day or night. Please go to the “Camp Lodging Price” page for more information about lodging and meals at the camp. Go to “Camp Calendar” to check for open dates at the camp. |

TYPES OF MINISTRY NEEDED Discipleship/Spiritual Growth – Most areas have been evangelized. There is a need in the area churches for ministry to focus on spiritual growth.
Training for Pastors/Church Leaders – Church leaders need tools, resources and support to help them in their own ministry.
VBS/Children’s Ministry – There is always a need for children’s ministry because we have many, many children in every area. Just keep in mind that most areas have children’s ministry from many sources so try to be original and creative… but keep it simple. An Important thing that we have come to realize, is that promoting education is a key element of ministry. In order for these children to have a brighter future, they first need to learn about the love of Jesus but at the same time, they need an education. We are beginning programs such as the School Sponsorship Program which will help provide an education for the children of Southern Belize. We would like to see groups incorporate education into their ministry. One way you can accomplish this is to bring educational materials to share with the children, parents or teachers. Another idea would to hand out educational items instead of “Candy”… such as pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, rulers, pocket dictionaries, etc.
Youth Ministry – This is an area that we have found to be very difficult. We tend to loose the youth around the age of 13. Just as it is in the States, it is hard to keep them interested, however we don’t have the funds, the willing workers or the resources to reach out in an effective way. Teams should make an effort to always include something specific for youth in their ministry plans. The youth enjoy sporting activities, such as soccer, volleyball and basketball so your ministry could involve a time for sports.
Men’s Ministry – There is real need for outreach to men. Most men work long hours and are not at home during the day or even on Sundays. Teams wishing to minister to men would need to structure their ministry differently. The men usually will not turn out for worship services or Bible studies. You may need to brainstorm about some activity that you could have that would involve the men or perhaps go out to visit them in their homes in the evenings.
Women’s Ministry – Women tend to turn out very well for most any kind of ministry. Most women are hungry to learn more. They need Bible studies that are relevant to their lives. The women have many questions about how to deal with the situations that they live in. Many of the women live with non-Christian husbands. They also deal with alcoholic, abusive, and unfaithful husbands.
Medical/Dental – There is a need for medical and dental teams in the Stann Creek area. Most medical teams come to Punta Gorda, Cayo or sometimes as close as Dangriga but it is difficult for the people in our area to travel to where these teams are located.
Construction – There is always work to be done in this area. Many of our churches are in need of construction work. Some need roofs, windows, doors, others need plastering or need bathrooms added and some need repairs. Beginning in 2008, there will be a great need for construction teams to work on the New Camp Facility which will be a multi-purpose facility. Please read more about this on the “Development Center” page. This will be an ongoing project for many years.
