Things to Do/See in Belize

While serving on missions in beautiful Belize, many groups take a day off to rest, relax and enjoy some of the beauty that Belize has to offer. We have posted links to information about just a few of the things that your group may enjoy during their time here. We can help to set up activities for your group and make reservations in advance. We have some local connections and can get a discounted price for our groups in many cases. We have also included links to some of our favorite restaurants and our favorite ice cream place. You can also contact these places directly to make your own arrangements. Let us know how we can help.

Seahorse Dive Shop - We use this dive shop for our group snorkeling trips. They can also take you diving even if others in your group snorkel. The dive shop is located in Placencia an is about a 45 minute drive from the camp or 15 minutes by water taxi from Independence.

Caves Branch Outpost - This is an adventure park where several activities are offered, such as cave tubing, zipline, horseback riding, etc. They also have a nice open air restaurant. We have taken groups here for a day of cave tubing and lunch. The park entrance fee is $5.00 per person. Lunch is $10.00 for a buffet lunch and the cost of the cave tubing is $25.00 US per person. This is a two and half hour drive from the camp.

Monkey River Tours – You can see howler monkeys in the wild as well as enjoy a relaxed river tour where you will see many birds, crocodiles, turtles, lizards, etc and your guide will share his knowledge of the local plants and animals. You can choose to also take a “Manatee watch” tour after lunch. Clive Garbutt or one of other guides can also arrange fishing trips. This is about a 30 to 40 drive from the camp.

Mayn Ruins (Xunantunich)- The ruins in Cayo are about a two and half hour drive from the camp.

Mayan Ruins (Altun Ha) – The ruins near Belize City are about two hours and forty five minutes from the camp.

Belize Zoo – this is located on the Western Hwy and is about two and half hours from the camp.

Tutti Frutti Ice Cream – This is our favorite place to get ice cream in Belize. It’s Italian Gelato and located on the main road near Placencia Point… just ask anyone for directions.

De Tatch Restaurant – Our favorite place to eat and hang out on the beach in Placencia.
